Bio: Keith Yzquierdo
Keith was raised in upstate New York. He attended college in Hoboken, received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, and then moved to Brooklyn. It was after moving to NYC that he began to seriously explore the practice of yoga.
Keith’s inextinguishable passion for the art and science of yoga is the reason he feels so compelled to teach. His own practice, fueled in part by his ever so inspirational teacher (Susan Orem), is the deep well from which he draws the material for his own teaching. He teaches what he practices, which makes his instruction clear, honest, passionate and inspirational.
The style of yoga that Keith teaches is a fusion of many traditions, but draws most heavily from the Iyengar method. His teaching focuses on the breath, respect for the body, and elimination of irrational fear. It is best described as alignment based vinyasa. He takes the utmost care to align his students correctly, but also to fill the classes with creative movement. He loves yoga (teaching it too), and his enthusiasm is contagious. He completed his 200 and 300 hour trainings with YogaWorks in New York City, under the guidance of Chrissy Carter.
